How to Use Ultrasn0w After a Successful Baseband (06.15.00) Upgrade!

Finally, this should put big smiles on your faces. Its been a very long and painful journey for all you guys who got stuck on baseband 05.14.02 or 5.15.04 after the iOS 4.1 or iOS 4.2.1 update. But this definitely gave you a lesson to remember and I am sure most of you will either never touch that iTunes Evil popup or talk to me first about it. You guys have come a long way, I must appreciate the patience.

The Dev Team released the Ultrasn0w today and very complicated way of unlocking an iDevice. But, its not that hard, but its just a bit different from the older and easier ways of Jailbreaking and Unlocking. The trick is to create a new baseband (06.15.00) and then unlock it instead of unlocking 05.14.02 or 5.15.04. I guess they did not have any luck unlocking those basebands so they had to come up with a new plan.

Here is a Step by Step Guide:

Step 1.
Very Important: You need to Jailbreak and update your Baseband on your iPhone 3GS and 3G first, use the guide posted here if you are on a MAC. PC users can use Redsn0w, here is the guide. This is a very important step, you can not move forward without Jailbreaking and updating your baseband to 06.15.00, so follow the links mentioned and carefully jailbreak your device.

Step 2.
Once you are done with the Jailbreak, look for Cydia on your iPhone screen.

Tap on Cydia to run it.
Go to the “Manage” section.

Tap the “Sources” button
You can also go straight to Search tab and type in “ultrasn0w”. if you find it just tap on it and install it and skip rest of the tutorial.

Unlock for iPhone 3GS, 3G, 5.14.02

Step 3.
Go to “Edit” and then “Add”. A Popup box will appear, now enter this URL Source in it “http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com” and tap on “Add Source”. This should update Cydia by adding this URL source.

Step 4.
Once this source is in, go to the search tab and type “ultrasn0w”. An application should show up, tap on install at the top. This application will unlock your iPhone 3GS or 3G on baseband 5.14.02 or 05.15.04 and you can now use your device on any carrier.

Final Step.
Restart your iPhone and enjoy the unlocked iPhone 3GS or 3G or iOS 4.1 or iOS 4.2.1.

Hi TechSilver, I know that you may be busy but i really need your help. I have iphone 3gs ios 4.3.3 and baseband 06.15.00. I tried the method above after restore from a custom IPSW and it worked. But after starting to customize my iphone by installing apps which needs reboot, and after the reboot is done, my carrier tab disappears from settings and there is no service. As if ultrasn0w isnt there though i check it from Cydia and it is there installed. Even if i try to reinstall it again nothing happens. I then have to restore it again and download ultrasn0w. But if i resarted my phone more than once even without installing any app the carrier tab disappears again. Please Help Me!!

Hi, I have never heard of this issue before, frankly.. I was going to suggest a clean restore too but its not helping! So, i have no idea what’s going on with your device! when this happens instead of restore why not try a Hard Reset! turn on your device and hold HOME + Power Button for a few seconds until your screen turns black and device restarts! Also you can try the AirPlane Mode from Settings. Turn it on and OFF and see if it works…

after successfully jailbreaking 3g and moving to baseband 06.15.00, I cannot get repo666.ultrasn0w.com to download successfully. any help? It shows up in sources but there is nothing in the folder. Sub-process /bn/bzip2 did not load

Had the same issue. Just do a search in the sources list instead of doing it after you call up repo666.ultrasn0w.com

JUst today, I decided to jailbreak my iPhone 3Gand i did folowing all the steps, with the right baseband 06.15.00, then I used UltraSn0w 1.2.7, the last version I believe.But i still need to update my address book, calendar, apps, and photos etc…Can I do it with iTunes then?

So the new updated version of ultrasn0w 1.2.7 dont work!!!! I am a very big techy when it comes to jailbreaking and whatnot…but when jailbreaking with redsn0w 0.9.6RC8 and then upgrading the baseband to 06.15.00… then going into cydia to get & install ultrasn0w 1.2.7 after it was done installing and repring..restart the iphone 3g lol nothing happens still in the same state as it was before! It NEVER unlocked the phone nor did any changes to the phone!! So upgrading to 06.15.00baseband was a waste of time and now im stuck with the ipad baseband and a locked phone!!! lol Either the new ultrasn0w 1.2.7 is not campatable with the ipad baseband or you really didnt have to upgrad to the ipad baseband! Poeple have a lot to figure out and make sure something works before sending out to the public!!!!!!!
