Whenever a new device is released, most people who enjoy complete control over their devices begin to look forward to when it will be rooted and hence all eyes are on the developers. In the case of AT&T Sony Xperia’s Ion, the developers have pulled through as usual and have successfully rooted the device.
The first step in this simple root method is to unlock the bootloader of your device. The next step that users will be required to do is download an insecure kernel to flash. What follows this is a quick root package script. Next, all you’ll have to do is download Superuser and the Busybox Installer apps from the Play Store.
If you don’t feel comfortable flashing an insecure kernel, you can wait a little as another solution may be in the works.
Follow the step-by-step instructions to root your AT&T Sony Xperia Ion:
Step 1: Unlock the bootloader.
Step 2: Flash your device with the insecure kernel.
Step 3: Now boot the phone and then connect it with the debugging on.
Step 4: Extract the Xperia ION Rooting Pack from the download links given and run the batch file.
Step 5: Head over to Google Play Store and install the latest versions of Superuser and Busybox apps.
