Pod2g Shows Off His New iPad’s Untethered Jailbreak On Video

Pod2g continues with giving updates on how much progress has been made and what remains to be done with regard to the upcoming untethered jailbreak. The famous iOS security researcher has now revealed that he managed to untethered jailbreak the third generation iPad running iOS 5.1. This news came in via Twitter, as usual.

Pod2g also released a video of iPad 3 untethered jailbreak on iOS 5.1.This demo video of the untethered jailbreak was published on Pod2g’s blog. The video shows a fully functional new iPad running Cydia and going through a reboot, confirming that the jailbreak is indeed untethered.

Perhaps the best part of the whole thing is Pod2g himself expressing faith that if this untethered jailbreak works on the latest iPad as well as on iPhone 4, it should work on all other devices too. That would include the iPhone 4S. For those as yet unaware, Pod2g has already shown off an untethered jailbreak running on an iPhone 4, iOS 5.1.

The talented developer has also mentioned what he will be working on next. He will stabilize the payload before moving his attention to jailbreaking the new iPad on the latest firmware version released to date – iOS 5.1.1. This firmware version has already been jailbroken by iOn1c a few days ago.

There is no ETA for the untethered jailbreak yet but looking at all the progress made; it shouldn’t be too far off! In the meantime, you would do good to remain patient – it is best that that tools meant to jailbreak your device be tested thoroughly by the devs before being made public.

For now, keep calm and check out the current options. You can tethered jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 using the jailbreaking tool Redsn0w by following our tutorial. There is a tethered jailbreak for some devices on iOS 5.1 that can be achieved via the Sn0wbreeze and Redsn0w tools. For those who haven’t yet upgraded to the latest firmware version and are on iOS 5.0.1, an untethered jailbreak is available through Absinthe for iPhone 4S and iPad2 and through Corona for iPhone 4 and other A4 and earlier devices. And while the untethered jailbreak tool seems a little far off currently, a great universal unlock method was discovered some time ago, that you may want to check out.
