Make Autocorrect On iOS Less Annoying With A Cydia Tweak

The autocorrect feature isn’t one of the better liked features of iOS. Although it sometimes provide free laughs, more often than not it is just plain annoying and we know we’re not alone in feeling that way. In fact, there’s actually an entire blog out there that posts the many funny/annoying unintentional messages that get sent due to this feature. It’s even a little confusing, what with requiring you to tap the autocorrect window when you want to ignore whatever it’s trying to correct. Even regular iPhone users find it confusing.

Fortunately, the awesome jailbreak community has taken note and we now have a great tweak that fixes the issue. ManualCorrect is a neat app that will practically reverse iOS’ shenanigans. Replacing the ‘auto’ bit, it will offer a suggestion when a word needs to be corrected instead of just automatically changing it to something completely ridiculous like the stock feature so often does.

The app will just highlight the word that it identifies as being misspelled so you can notice and then, if need be, manually correct it. It’s both simple and useful.

Of course, you could simply opt to disable auto-correct if it’s so annoying but then no misspellings or typos would be corrected at all. That’s definitely not a win-win situation.

Another great thing about ManualCorrect is that it is free of cost. However, it’s only for jailbroken devices. You can grab it free of cost from Cydia’s BigBoss repository .For 99 cents, you can get a Pro version if you need it. It adds a settings pane as well as a SBSettings toggle.

Enjoy no more autocorrect blunders!
