BGR has exclusively reported details concerning the eagerly awaited next generation iPad, dubbed the iPad 3. A source, which remains anonymous, has said he/she possesses an iPad 3 prototype, and has supplied BGR with not only details but also images proving his claims. The source responsible used iBoot- a development and debug tool which shows a lot of information about a device’s internal specifications- and took screenshots. This sets this specific rumour apart from the rest that circulate the internet.

Plenty of information can be inferred from the screenshots. The images indicate that the model numbers for the iPad are J1 and J2- iPad 3,1 and iPad 3,2 respectively. This does not mean they’re different devices. They are WiFi-only and Wi-Fi+GSM/CDMA/LTE for all carriers models. That’s right- LTE compatibility!

The current iPad 2 has a dual-core A5 processor. It is kind of obvious that the next iPad will have an improved processor. Like previously rumoured and subsequently reported, the next device will come with a quad-core A6 processor, which these images seem to confirm. This will make it the fastest Apple device or tablet. The A6 processor has a model number S5L8945X.

Although nothing can be said for certain till the official release of the month, this latest rumour supports previous rumours, such as the device being launched sometime in March. The images show that Apple has at least begun to push out prototypes of the device. Apple will, expectedly, produce several prototypes before the design is finalized. Of course, even this is dependent upon the legitimacy of these images. The most popular rumours are supported, but nowhere is a Retina Display mentioned. These rumours and all the hype surrounding the tablet will continue to grow, but only a release will confirm, if any, of them.
