GreenPois0n for Windows, Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 is here!

Like I said last night that GreenPois0n for Windows is going to hit tomorrow and we have it now. Thank to Chronic Dev Team now you can enjoy the Untethered Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 on your Windows PC. The procedure is pretty much the same like MAC but here is a complete guide on how to Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1, Untethered on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch and iPad.

So let’s get to it and I’ll show you how to Untether Jailbreak your iPhone or an iPod touch on iOS 4.2.1 using GreenPois0n RC5 for Windows.

Word of Wisdom

If you are on an unlocked iPhone 4, DO NOT TRY THIS (wait for my how to preserve iPhone 4 baseband guide)

How to Untethered Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1

[ Step 1 ]
Download GreenPois0n for Windows [Mirror]

[ Step 2 ]
Run it once you have it and connect your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad… Hit the Jailbreak button…

[ Step 3 ]
You will be asked to put your device in DFU mode, follow the procedure on your screens.

[ Step 4 ]
Once GreenPois0n for Windows recognizes your DFU mode it will start the Untethered Jailbreak process. So just give it a minute and do not do anything here.

[ Step 5 ]
When its done your device should boot up and you’ll be able to see “Loader icon” on your homescreen.

[ Step 6 ]
Tap on Loader icon to open and from the list choose Install Cydia. That’s it you can now enjoy an Untethered Jailbreak on your iPhone 4, 3GS, iPT or iPad running iOS 4.2.1.

That’s pretty much it, there are a few reporting some bugs and crashes so let us know if you are running into any issues and we’ll try to help you out. Good Luck!

i was not using 3G on my iphone 3GS. i was able to tale sms from my contacts but after receiving 3G settings from my carrier to use 3G problems occured. Whenever i receive sms sprigboard crashes. I wanted to inform you about this maybe this is an issue to be fixed for later releases. thanks

hi TS,
i have a 3gs, baseband 6.15.00, fw4.2.1 – custom version to avoid error 1015 when restoring in itunes
when I use greenpoison rc6, it doesn’t boot up unlocked, so i get no homescreen with loader icon.
Instead i still get the emergency call/unlocked screen. Also greenpoison never says that the jailbreak is complete.
Greenpoison has done something though, because when i boot i get the greenpoison skull logo.
Any suggestions on how to proceed?
tried the same thing with official fw4.2.1 restore but then i get the 1015 error, i suppose because of the 6.15.00 ipad baseband. After that it went back into DFU mode and i tried the greenpoison jailbreak too but it didn’t work.

ok couple of things quickly…
1. Your are succesfully Jailbroken with GP if you see the skull and the
emergency screen!
2. GP doesn’t hacktivate your iPhone… so here is what you need..
redsn0w_win_0.9.6b6 or a version close to that and run it… Give it the iOS
4.2.1 file.. when you see the options screen, just CHECK Install CYDIA and
Uncheck the rest and proceed
follow rest of the procedure and you should be able to see your homescreen
and rest of the stuff…
Also, at this point you will notice Cydia so no need to run LOADER ICON or
anything…
To unlock at this point, go cydia update it, and install Ultrasn0w and life
would be normal again!

As it turns out, the other way around also works.
1) first I installed fw4.2.1, custom version to avoid error 1015 when restoring in itunes,
2) then ran redsn0w_win_0.9.6b6, (with the install cydia option and got tethered jailbreak
3) last, I ran GreenPoison rc6. et Voila untethered jailbreak
4) unlocked with the Cydia app on the iphone.
You can’t imagine how happy I am (or maybe you can :-), when it finally worked. After 2 months of fooling around, with every error imaginable (including several hardware related with alternating yellow and white screens) I was about to give up.
Now it works like a charm. Life is normal again !

My iphone 4 4.2.1 has already been jailbroken on redsnow, but it is tethered! can i just just jailbreak untethered now with greensnow or is there other steps that need to be followed!

no no! just run Greenpois0n follow steps and you are good, no need to

Hi all
3gs 4.2.1 BB 05.15.04 Jailbroken with greenpoison, ran loader icon and installed cydia, installed Ultrasnow, put at&t sim in but it keep searching for hour still searching (sim works with another phone) what did I do wrong? or what can I do to fix this?

You dont need ultrasn0w if you have at&t SIM!! remove ultrasnow

so im 11 and i used greenpios0n on my 3g 32gb ipod touch followed the steps and when i booted up my ipod i found out that there is no loader! WHAT DO I DO!
