For all the Android users out there who enjoy tinkering with their phones, there’s some news. The CyanogenMod team has made a stable version of the ICS-based CM9 available for a number of devices. Although previous versions were pretty stable in their own right, this final release marks the end of the ICS branch. Henceforth, only critical bug fixes will be delivered.

The team has explained that the reason for finishing up CM9, even though CM10 is already active, is because the team does not like leaving things unfinished. CM9 will not be further developed now, however. All the devices that currently support CM9 will likely support and receive CM10 sometime in the future.
