iOS 5.0.1 has been out for a while and its time to save the SHSH for it. TinyUmbrella 5.01.00 has been updated to support the latest iOS 5.0.1 firmware. This new version can save iOS 5.0.1 SHSH blobs for iPhone 4S / 4, iPod Touch 4G / 3G, iPad 2 / 1. If you are new to the term, SHSH are required to downgrade from one firmware to another.
So if you have iOS 5.0.1 running and for some reason you plan on moving back to an older firmware, say iOS 4.3.5, you would need the SHSH blobs for iOS 4.3.5.
TinyUmbrella saves the SHSH and upload those to Cydia and save a copy on your computer as well. So, when you downgrade, TinyUmbrella grabs those saved SHSH for your device.
This version can now support iPhone 4S, we don’t have a jailbreak for it yet but it is in the making. So I suggest to all those running iOS 5 or iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4S, grab your SHSH today before its too late. Apple stops signing old iOS firmware files which makes it impossible for TinyUmbrella to grab those SHSH. So its always good to save the SHSH right after the iOS update.
If you are already on a jailbroken device, you can use iSHSHit from Cydia to save your SHSH, its a very handy tool.
Hackers have been trying to jailbreak iPhone 4S and they have demoed it as well, so expect a jailbreak soon. I strongly recommend all iPhone 4S users who have been waiting for a jailbreak, to save SHSH today. It will help you downgrade iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 5 or from any other updated iOS version.
