Deliver is an app that allows users to transfer files between iDevices fast and easy. Of course, the idea itself isn’t overly innovative. There are quite a few apps available out there that offer file transfer too. What sets this app apart from the rest is that it does not come with a price tag attached. The app is without charge yet it works really well, and offers a lot.
The app is basically for Mac but has a corresponding iOS version. Once downloaded, the app simply needs to be installed and launched on your Mac or any iDevice, over your local network. Once that’s done, you can enjoy speedy file transfers to and from any other device running the same app. The transfer can be instigated from any device (Mac or otherwise). Not only must the app be running on both devices, they should be on the same Wi-Fi network as well.
The method to send files is simple. If you choose to transfer something from your Mac, simply use the Command+O hotkey. Alternatively, click the default notepad-with-pen button on the toolbar and then the plus button that will appear. This will let you paste text and then send it. If you’re sending a file, drag and drop it into the app’s interface after clicking the plus button.
If you’re transferring a file from your Mac to an iOS device, a sound will alert you of the transfer after which it will proceed. As aforementioned, it is not important that the file transfer be initiated from your Mac. If you choose to send a file from iOS, click the plus sign or the text icon, depending on what you wish to send.
You can password protect all transfers by clicking the padlock button. The History button allows you to view what has been sent, and how much of a file has already been transferred. File transfer of larger files is obviously slower than that of smaller ones, but is still surprisingly fast and smooth.
The Mac version is a little less stable than the iOS version, although they are similar. However, since the app is free of cost and sounds great it is definitely worth a shot.
