If a survey is conducted, almost all smartphone users would complain that the worst thing about their latest gadgets is the horrible battery timing. Whether it’s Android or iOS, each new firmware update seems to be reducing battery life. However, there are developers out there who try to mend the problems created by the OS developers in the first place.
Thinner phones mean thinner and hence less powerful batteries, bigger display screens means more battery needed, powerful processors and general trend to use smartphones for every task, all these point towards lesser battery timings. Android always complain about battery drainage issues and iOS users literally had their battery timings halved when iOS 5 was released. Mods and tweaks that allow lower screen brightness, underclocking and undervolting the processor, turning off Wi-Fi and mobile data are example of solutions to improve the awfully less battery life.

Cydia, the home to jailbreak tweaks and apps has come forth with yet another helpful solution to this problem. iOS jailbreak developer @xvolks has developed a new tweak that claims to extend iPhone battery life by almost 100%. BattSaver is the only Cydia tweak that doubles battery life, claims the developer. The tweak works smartly to automatically disable the data/3G activity and switch off battery-draining components when the phone is not in use. With BattSaver Cydia tweak, allows you to check battery state in real-time which includes charge cycle count, current capacity, maximum capacity, design capacity, time remaining, battery state in graphs.

Needless to say, you have to jailbreak your device to use this tweak and works only for iOS 5 and above. Head over to the jailbreak threads for iOS 5, iOS 5.1.1 and iOS 6 so you can use this tweak to get double battery life on your iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad 2, or The New iPad (iPad 3).
