I am sure many of you know that Apple isn’t signing old iOS for any device, only iOS 6 is getting signed by Apple server, which means you cannot restore your iOS 5.xx device to the same iOS again using iTunes.

Jailbreak is a common term amongst the apple users i.e. removing the limitations from your product that were set by Apple. So far, all the iOS versions have their respective jailbreaking tools with exception for iOS 6. However, on 11th October at the Hack In The Box Security Conference in Kuala Lumpur, some members of the jailbreak team namely Cyril better know by his alias Pod2g, MuscleNerd and David Wang a.k.a Planetbeing that have previously released popular jailbreak tools like Absinthe and Redsn0w, spoke and provided some details and updates about the eagerly anticipated iOS 6 untethered jailbreak.
iOS 6 was pushed out to iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users a few weeks back. If you are on iOS 5.0.1 or iOS 5.1.1, you will be greeted with “Update Your iOS version” notification and If you are on a jailbroken iOS 5.0.1 iPad or iPhone, you really don’t want to proceed with the iOS 6 update. unfortunately, if you are one of those unlucky ones who accidently accepted that request and are wondering what to do, this guide is for you.
Pod2g, the guy partially responsible for the iOS 5 and iOS 5.1 jailbreaks, has said that iOS 6 untethered jailbreak is not available at the moment and release can not be expected any time soon.
Grant Paul, better knows as Chpwn, has updated his website Jailbreak.kr and the news is not good. The iOS hacker says “Nothing available right now” for iOS 6 jailbreak.

Apple’s iOS is largely considered one of the best operation systems out there, offering a smooth and great user experience. However, although iOS itself comes packed with some great apps, what really makes the experience so awesome is personalization and the use of numerous third party apps, perhaps purchased from the App Store. However, native or third party, the fact remains that everything on an iPhone is handled via Apps. Continue reading →
If a survey is conducted, almost all smartphone users would complain that the worst thing about their latest gadgets is the horrible battery timing. Whether it’s Android or iOS, each new firmware update seems to be reducing battery life. However, there are developers out there who try to mend the problems created by the OS developers in the first place.
An iPhone’s Device Firmware Update (DFU) mode is basically a state in which your device can interface with iTunes. DFU mode is basically used to change firmware versions on device. However, it is not the same as Recovery. In Recovery, iTunes basically restores your iPhone to the factory settings but with the latest iOS version running. In DFU, you can change and choose the firmware you want installed instead of iTunes automatically installing in onto your iPhone.
Not too long ago, an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 was released. Absinthe was a huge, long awaited accomplishment but it’s a thing of the past now. The entire jailbreak community now has their eyes glued to the developers once again, this time for the iOS 5.1 and its untethered jailbreak.
In the past, we have written about how you can downgrade to older firmware versions from iOS 5.1. However, that method only worked for older devices and not for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2- devices powered by the A5 processor. Firmware downgrades have not been possible on these two devices as yet. However, that may well change thanks to the renowned iOS dev iH8sn0w.
Plenty of people will have upgraded to iOS 5.1 after its March 7 release. Although we wrote about a warning issued by the iPhone Dev Team regarding the latest iOS update, many people must have gone ahead and updated their firmware regardless. If you have done so, and miss your untethered jailbreak, or have some other issue and want to downgrade to an older version, you can now do so.
Avoid Firmware Updates! iPhone Dev Team has given a loud and clear message to all iOS device users, firmly stating that they would end up losing their jailbreak if they update the firmware.
Following iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak, users have been experiencing issues with some apps. Prominent among these is iBooks. Available for free in Apple’s app store, this app gets downloaded quite a lot. Recent hype surrounding Apple’s initiative to launch support for textbooks has caused a sharp increase in the number of downloads of this app.Previously, we wrote about how to fix the iBooks issue using either Corona 1.0.5 or Redsn0w 0.9.10b4 for untethered jailbroke iOS 5.0.1.
Pod2g, ever since his claim in November to have found an exploit for iOS 5 and for iPhone 4S, has been in the limelight. After a long and agonizing wait, iOS 5 users with Apples A4 and older devices were able to finally untethered jailbreak their iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and rest. On 27th of Decenmber last year, the untethered jailbreak was released via Corona from Cydia. Ever since then A5 based device users were counting on Pod2g and his team to release the untethered jailbreak for their iPhone 4S and iPad2.
