It wasn’t even past 10 days after Apple released their latest OS alongside the New iPad that the work begun on finding the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1. Stefen Essar, better known by his alias @i0n1c was the guy who worked out the codes and exploits and handed them over to iPhone Dev Team who released it through Redsn0w for the first ever jailbreak and it was him once again who posted photos of an iPad 2 with jailbreak running on iOS 5.1 just a few days after the release of iOS 5.1.
Pod2g Updates On iOS 5.1 Untethered Jailbreak for A5+ Devices
A few hours back today, renowned hacker Pod2g, the ex team member of the Chronic Dev team tweeted about iOS 5.1 jailbreak for A5+ devices. Three different hackers have already been successful in discovering how to jailbreak iOS 5.1 on the 3rd-gen iPad, namely MuscleNerd (of the iPhone Dev Team), i0n1c and chpwn. None of these jailbreak methods have been released publicly however, and from Pod2g’s tweets today it is evident that a public release is rather far away right now.
iH8sn0w Finds Way To Downgrade iPhone 4S and iPad 2 From iOS 5.1 To iOS 5.0.1
In the past, we have written about how you can downgrade to older firmware versions from iOS 5.1. However, that method only worked for older devices and not for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2- devices powered by the A5 processor. Firmware downgrades have not been possible on these two devices as yet. However, that may well change thanks to the renowned iOS dev iH8sn0w.
