The Call of Duty ELITE app has been released for Android, nine days after the iOS version. Activision’s latest release is not a game, it’s a performance-tracking app which lets you check all your COD pertinent data via your smartphone, taking multiplayer gaming to a whole new level. For those Android users who are COD fanatics and felt left out, well the Android version is now here and you can download it for free.

The application consists of four main sections. These let you access all the information you could possibly need, related to your game, player and custom classes. There is one section devoted to your recent matches. It lets you review the latest ten games that you have played via your console account. You can check your head-shots and kill-streaks. Another really cool thing about the app is that it lets you get revenge from your biggest COD enemy by actually telling you the gamer tag of that player.
A section which lets you create and edit custom classes is also included in the app. It allows access to everything you would expect on a console itself, such as selecting primary/secondary weapons, equipment and other such player perks. Once you save the class, it automatically gets pushed to your account and you can enjoy it whenever next you log on to COD servers through a gaming console.

Not all of COD Elite’s features are free though, it’s a ‘freemium’ app, which means you can enjoy some of it without having to pay anything. But to enjoy certain features, you will have to pay for the Premium version. The free version of ELITE allows users to make a career profile, access the app on multiple platforms, sync directly to the game, and analyze and hence improve your skills and strategies. The Premium app, for an annual payment of $49.99, predictably offers a lot more. This includes competitions with prizes, pro analysis and strategy, and such.
Earlier, the team behind COD released Call Of Duty: Black Ops Zombies. This received excellent reviews and brought a much needed improvement to the zombies game on smartphones. Activision regularly breaks records with COD. Public reaction to Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty: Black Ops was overwhelming. However this latest app, ELITE is receiving highly mixed reviews at the moment. Perhaps this has more to do with the sheer multitude of Android handsets out there and less with the app itself, because reviews rate the app on either extreme, either 1 or 5. It could also be that certain users are experiencing bugs while others aren’t.
The app also has an iOS version which was released recently, as we mentioned earlier. The iPhone version is compatible with the iPad as well, but an iPad specific version is expected soon.
Since the app is free, it can’t possibly hurt to give it a shot. If you are a dedicated and hardcore COD player, download the game here.
