Add Widgets To The Notification Center Without Jailbreaking Your iPhone

iOS 5 brought along numerous new things with it, one of those being the Notification Center. As is evident from the name itself, this acts as a single spot that houses all your notifications as well as a limited number of widgets such as Weather etc. It’s very limited though and having an option to customize NC by adding widgets to it, especially on a non-jailbroken device would of course be pretty great. Third party widgets can definitely be very useful. Pinning such shortcuts to allow you to call/text someone easily, to turn your phone camera’s LED into a flashlight and launching an app easily and conveniently are just some of the ways this can prove convenient. All this without voiding your warranty (which jailbreaking is bound to) is what Speed U allows you to do.

The app basically offers you to make use of notifications that will only disappear once you manually remove them. You can then choose an unlimited number of shortcuts to show up in the Notification Center but since only 5 will show up at any given time, it’d be a good idea to choose the ones you use most frequently.

The app is currently free – and this is a limited time offer so grab it while you can! Once you have, simply launch the app and follow instructions and use common sense to set everything up. The app offers many options such as App Actions which will allow you to create a shortcut for any non-stock app you have and other options whose function is evident from their name. These include Speed Dial, Text Message, Launch Website, Speed Email, Flashlight, and Brightness etc.

Apart from all this, there are a few things to keep in mind. To ensure the app itself doesn’t get too annoying, turn off banner alerts. You can do this by navigating to the stock Settings app, then the Notifications menu and the Speed U section within. Also, make certain that you keep the app’s notifications in the Notification Center.
