7.85-Inch iPad Mini Display Production Begins In August

Rumors have been flying around regarding the specifications, features and the launch date for the new iPhone 5. The latest ones suggest that the new flagship device for Apple will have  4G LTE radios, NFC and 1 GB RAM, a nano SIM , 4inch screen, running the latest iOS 6 featuring Bluetooth 4.0 device pairing and connectivity. The latest rumor to related to Apple, however, is not about the new iPhone 5. Rather, it is for the speculated iPad Mini.

The latest report suggests that the 7.85-inch iPad Mini display production will begin in August, which has already started. This news makes it hard for us to believe the previous rumors that suggested the iPad Mini launch to be alongside that of iPhone 5. Even with the resources that Apple has its disposal, achieving this task would be extremely difficult if not possible.

“We expect panel production to start in August, with production ramping up to high volumes (more than a million units per month) in the fourth quarter,” said Paul Semenza, an analyst at NPD DisplaySearch, in response to an e-mail query.

Semenza said this is DisplaySearch’s “understanding of the activity for the 7.85 [inch] panel expected to be used in the iPad Mini.”

Apple is known for its high end priced gadgets with the latest new iPad, or iPad3 as it is generally called, priced at 499$. Obviously, being smaller in size, the new iPad Mini will sell for a comparatively cheaper price. That will put it in direct competition with the 7-inch Android-based tablets such as Kindle Fire and Google Nexus 7. Then again, all these are rumors and only after the actual launch that we will get to know the exact details.

Stay tuned as iPhone 5 launch nears and we bring you the latest news and rumors related to Apple devices.
